Today we have an MSP from Chicago on the line who's going to talk to us about a recent ransomware attack that they had from one of their clients and the painstaking details and challenges they had to go through just to get their data encrypted.

This podcast is about Dmitry's experience with a new client that suffered a ransomware attack. This company did not have properly set up backups, so the only way to get the data unlocked was to pay. Dmitry covers his experience of negotiating with hackers on the amount of bitcoins, how he had to create a fake email to maintain anonymity, and how he was paying in portions in exchange for keys unlocking data partially. SafePoint IT team identified how hackers got in, remediated the issue, and implemented backups and other necessary protection to defend this company from future attacks.
